Therapy approach and finding a good fit

Therapy approach

Warm, relational, collaborative and flexible.

I have training in Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy (STST), Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I also draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Rather than applying these approaches separately, I integrate them thoughtfully to respond to each person’s unique needs and experiences.

Therapy with me is usually exploratory and collaborative rather than confrontational, though I remain flexible in adapting my approach to your individual needs. At times, with your permission, I may gently challenge you or invite you to consider something from a different perspective. Rather than offering quick fixes or telling you what to do, we take time to explore your experiences and make sense of what may be happening beneath the surface. This might include anxiety, depression, shame, self-criticism, recurring behavioral, emotional or relational patterns, painful relationship experiences, or ways of coping that may once have been helpful but no longer serve you.

Therapy can feel uncomfortable at times, especially when we begin exploring experiences that have been left unspoken or carried alone for a long time. My intention is not to push you beyond what feels manageable. So please do let me know if the pace doesn’t feel right, if something feels off, or if there is something in our work together that you would like us to talk about. My role is to support you in understanding yourself more deeply and making choices that feel aligned with your own values and needs.

Finding a good fit

Is working together right for you?

While we may also explore practical strategies when helpful, my approach may not be the best fit if you are primarily looking for coaching, quick solutions, direct advice, or step-by-step instructions about what to do next.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can meet and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
